Customs officers have seized 3.2 million contraband cigarettes in Dublin Port.

Customs officers have seized 3.2 million contraband cigarettes in Dublin Port.

The cigarettes represented a potential loss of revenue amounting to €1 million, a Revenue statement said.

The Regal, Sovereign and Super King brands were packed in a container in Alicante, Spain and described as "pottery and ornaments", the statement added. The container travelled by ferry from Bilbao to Dublin Port.
