Travel gear: Wi-Fi USB Adapter and a Patek Philippe watch

Catching more wifi, carrying more power and travelling with more style

Amped Wi-Fi USB Adapter Many of us have developed a finely tuned map of where our home wifi signal drops. When travelling, it's more of a lottery. Amped's USB adapter promises to double your wifi range and as much as triple the connection speed. Of course, the ultimate speed still depends on the local broadband. It's an antenna that plugs into the USB port in your laptop; set-up the downloadable software and search. It works with 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks on PC and Mac OS. $50/€45, from amped wireless.com

Phorce Pro Case For some, the key thing to know here is that the Phorce Pro comes in black or red. Then there's the tech. It's got a 26000 mAh integrated battery, capable of powering all sorts of devices and can even charge four different gadgets at the one time. It pairs by Bluetooth with a smartphone. All sorts of analogue smarts: separate padded compartments for tablets and laptops; converting to a messenger bag or a backpack; expansion zips that double its capacity; it's even water resistant. €298 from phorce.com

Patek Philippe World Time Moon Watch Master watchmakers Patek Philippe take style to new level with the World Time Moon Watch. Designed to mark its 175th anniversary, it pairs a mechanism that was first used in the 1930s with a gorgeous moon-phase display conjured out of glass discs. You also get the time in all 24 zones and a hand-stitched alligator strap. The bad news is it was limited to a run of just 1,300. It costs more than €50,000 (but as they say, if you need to ask...), see patek.com
