Catch: At Alton Towers children are classed as adults once they reach 12 and are charged accordingly.

Take note: Ticket prices for the theme park are not cheap at £33.66 (€40.29) for an adult open-dated ticket booked online and £26.01 (€31.14) for a child. Family open-dated tickets booked online save around £3 per person. During February half-term in the UK one-day tickets booked online are more reasonable at £15.24 (€18.24) for an adult and £9.60 (€11.69) for a child. Waterpark tickets cost £15 (€17.94) per adult and £10.50 (€12.57) per child, with further savings on family tickets.

The guest contacts IHG to claim the Best Price Guarantee either by phone or by filling out an online form.

Catch: You get your free night once the guest relations team confirms your claim is valid. All sounds like hard work.
