Handbags are making a huge comeback this month with the Monday night return of Strictly Handbag, Dublin’s longest-running club night. After a six-month hiatus, the club kicks off next Monday (April 27th) at its new venue, Think Tank on Dublin’s Eustace Street.

Handbagger-in-chief Martin Thomas thinks the time is right to get the handbags out of hock and get back to the 1980s again. When the club opened in 1994, downstairs in Rí-Rá, Dublin was only coming out of the doldrums, and Strictly Handbag gave clubbers a chance to dance their cares away to the feelgood sounds of the 1980s. The club has been running successfully at the Sugar Club on Friday nights, and that’s set to continue, but the return of the Monday night club is good news for anyone nostalgic for the good old days of dancing round your handbag. Dublin’s club scene may be in disarray, but you can still rely on Strictly Handbag to deliver old-school pop thrills courtesy of resident DJs Rory Montane, Murt and Eamonn Barrett. www.strictlyhandbag.com.
