CARLOW

Duckett's Grove is a superb estate containing a ruined mansion and gothic castle along with 11 acres of gardens. A craft fair is also located in the courtyard with a mix of retail and food stalls, and this opens on weekends. The house and walled gardens are open daily and admission is free. duckettsgrove.eu

DONEGAL

Robert Mizzell heads an all-star company at Harvey's Point Summer Cabaret, which runs every Wednesday until October. The two-hour dinner show also features country singer Lisa McHugh, operatic singer Eugene Ginty and others. Overnight packages also available. harveyspoint.com

An interactive display celebrating the life of Cork dancer Joan Denise Moriarty (above) runs at the Firkin Crane venue in the Shandon area of Cork. It features original costumes, archive film and theatrical posters. Admission is free and open weekdays 10am-5pm. firkincrane.ie
