Perhaps it’s a sign we’re getting old and like the idea of going home to our own bed after a long day of music, art, fashion, food and comedy, or perhaps it’s just that the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham is the perfect location for a music festival. Either way, we’ll be happily munching on some Forbidden Fruit this weekend.

The first big festival of the summer, Forbidden Fruit – which made an impressive debut last year – is now a three-day event, running from today until Monday. Acts include New Order – returning to Dublin for the first time since 1986 – Leftfield, Friendly Fires, The Rapture, Austra, Bloody Beetroots, and some great Irish acts including James Vincent McMorrow, Mmoths, Little Green Cars, Windings and Daithí. There'll be comedy from Ardal O'Hanlon, Dead Cat Bounce and Late Night Gimp Fight, and there'll also be food and art a-plenty. Transport is a doddle, as the grounds are a stone's throw from Luas, bus and train stops. Tickets from €49.50. See forbiddenfruit.ie
