A quirky gift shop in Castlecomer; a boutique with a madly loyal following in Gorey; a cake shop in Booterstown; a hardware shop in Clonskeagh, and artisan food shops the length and breadth of the country are all on the list of Best Shops in Ireland, as chosen by you.

Since putting out the call for your favourite shops in Ireland last Saturday, we have been inundated with your suggestions, so thank you, and we’re making a note of each and every one.

You’ve told us about the sweetshops of your childhood; the boutique where you know they won’t be selling the same dress to everyone else; the butcher shop with the endlessly patient and skilled staff; the French patisserie where they start baking at 4am so you can have fresh croissants first thing; a Dublin camera shop where the customer care is world class; a knitting shop worth driving miles to – the list goes on and on. Please, keep the suggestions coming.

Over the summer, our team will be on the road, visiting shops all over the country. Each week, we’ll bring you a handful of nominations on this page. On August 25th, we’ll gather together the very best, across several categories, in a special edition of the Magazine.
