SUBARU HAS introduced its new boxer diesel engine to its Impreza range. It joins diesel versions of the Legacy, Outback and Forester already on sale.

The new diesel Impreza features a 2-litre 150bhp turbocharged diesel engine combined with a six-speed manual transmission and the Japanese firm's all-wheel-drive system.

Three versions are on offer: a standard TD model, an S version and an RS.

The entry-level model manages 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds and has emissions of 152 g/km while the other two have a time of nine seconds and 155g/km in emissions.

Both fall into Band C for tax purposes and come with an annual road tax of €302.

Prices start at €21,495 with standard features including alloys, cruise control and fully automatic air-con. The S and RS versions add a 10-speaker sound system and xenon headlights.
