Routes to avoid during the week ahead
DUBLIN: To repair the severe damage to the bridge at Rathcoole Interchange, the bridge will be closed until late December. Southbound traffic will be diverted on to citybound lanes. Northbound traffic will use slip roads at Rathcoole interchange. There will two lanes for north and southbound traffic: a 40 mph speed limit will apply. College Rd (the link road between Newcastle and Rathcoole) will also be closed with local diversions.
A section of Oldcourt Rd in Tallaght is closed for roadworks. Expect delays on Mount Venus Rd. Alternative routes via Oldcourt Rd (R113). Ballycullen Rd, Killinniny Rd and Oldcourt Rd (R113) or via Oldcourt Rd (R113), Killinniny Rd, Ballycullen Rd and Oldcourt Rd (R113).
Stop/go system on N2, south of Kilshane Cross between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. approx. for heavy plant crossing - flagmen in place. Reduce speed and approach with caution.
CORK: Delays on N20 between Rathduff and Mallow, for construction of new "2+1" scheme.
A section of Waterfall Rd closed from O'Shea's Bar in Waterfall - northbound traffic goes via Waterfall Village to Jimmies Cross Roads to Maglin Cross along Curaheen Road and to Bishopstown. Southbound traffic detours via Hawkes Rd, Curaheen Rd to Maglin cross to Jimmies Cross toward Waterfall.
MEATH: Works and temporary lights north of Ashbourne on N2. All traffic affected, "stop and go" system during the day, after 7 p.m. temporary lights.
The N3 at Kilcarn in Navan reduced to one lane for bridge works. Expect delays - speed limit of 10 mph.
LONGFORD: Works between Longford and Edgeworthstown on N4 - expect delays.
LEITRIM: Waterworks on N16 between Glenfarne and Manorhamilton at Our Lady's Hospital. Temporary lights.
TIPPERARY: Works on (R445) Limerick Rd out of Nenagh between Careys Glass and Springfort Cross Junction. One lane, temporary traffic lights - use alternative routes.
WESTMEATH: Works on Athlone Bypass, overtaking lane blocked for 2km from roundabout on Dublin side of Athlone, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
LOUTH: Old Dundalk-Ardee Rd (N52) closed for building the Dundalk Western Bypass, from 1.25km southwest of junction with Knockbridge Rd southwest for 300m in Carnanbregagh townland. Heynestown Rd (CR165) in townlands of Gibstown and Killally closed for 1km from junction with Old Ardee Rd and N1 Southern link Rd. Alternative route to Dundalk is N52, N1 Southern Link Rd to Carrolls Junction, Dublin Rd, Hill St, Dundalk.
KILDARE: Roadworks at Johnstown and Kill, for N7 road widening and interchange.
Works in Naas on Dublin Rd, Fishery lane and the Maudlins Interchange for N7 road widening and interchange.
MONAGHAN: One-way shuttle works on N2 Carrickmacross bypass. Temporary traffic lights, on main N2 between Ardee and Carrickmacross, three miles south of Carrickmacross. Delays likely.
SLIGO: Work on a safety barrier along Central Reserve of N4 between Carrowroe and Collooney. Lane restrictions, delays likely.
