Routes to avoid around the country during the week ahead

DUBLIN: Resurfacing on Springfield Ave between N81 in Fairways and Rathfarnham until tomorrow. Works overnight, 7pm to 7am. Minor delays.

WICKLOW: Works on N81 from Blessington to Lamb Junction until at least mid-October.

KILDARE: Resurfacing continues and diversions in place at end of dual carriageway on Dublin side of Kildare town on Old Dublin Rd. Traffic down to single lane. 30mph limit in place and motorists are advised to allow a little bit of extra time for journeys. Layout in place to about mid-October.

MEATH: Works on N2 between Kilmoone Cross and Ashbourne Village until about next Wednesday. Temporary lights in

LAOIS: Works on Mountmellick Rd half mile outside Portlaoise until September 20th. Traffic down to one lane; temporary lights. Traffic from town can take alternative route through Knockmay and Ballyfin Roads, which are signposted to get to Mountmellick. Temporary lights.

GALWAY: Part of Ballymoneen Rd Upper in Knocknacarra near Barna Woods closed to end of September. Diversions, but local access will be maintained.

CORK: N8 (Watergrasshill to Glanmire Bypass) will open at about 1pm this Friday. This dual carriageway is continuation of Glanmire Bypass and will bypass Watergrasshill and re-join N8 1km north of Watergrasshill.

Restrictions on Araglen- Kilworth Rd; works start from Araglen Bridge and continue to Elizabeth Bridge. Due to finish by Friday.

LIMERICK: Works on Dublin Rd at Clare Street from 9.30am to 4.30pm daily until Friday October 17th.

TIPPERARY: Works continue on N7 between Gooig (county boundary) and Birdhill until early November. Expect delays.

OFFALY: Sewer-laying works on N62 in Ferbane; expect long delays until end of November. Traffic using N62 northbound or southbound diverted at Ballinahown and Cloghan.

CARLOW: Pipe-laying; long delays likely in Carlow on Tullow-Castledermot Road until at least September 20th.

WESTMEATH: Works on N6 half mile west of Kinnegad for M4/M6 motorway project. Flagmen in place; minor delays.

WATERFORD: Works on Old Kilmeaden Rd until further notice. Minor delays at peak times. Temporary one-way system at Causeway, Abbeyside, Dungarvan. Traffic permitted along Causeway towards Abbeyside from Devonshire Bridge. No parking in vicinity of works. Diversions sign-posted.

CAVAN: Temporary lights six miles outside Cavan town on Dublin Rd. Some delays.

WEXFORD: Works on N11 south of Ferns Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm until end of month.

Blackstairs Blues Festival in Enniscorthy on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; expect extra traffic.

LONGFORD: Works at junction of N4/N55 in Edgeworthstown for about two months.
