Eight-storey block for quaysSPENCER DOCK Development Company is about to apply for planning permission to Dublin City Council for an eight-storey over double basement office building on a site bounded by North Wall Quay to the south and PricewaterhouseCoopers to the west.

The site includes two protected structures at North Wall Quay - the Wool Store and the LMS building, also known as the CIÉ Goods Depot (which the company is proposing to connect to the office building) - and turn them into a café, restaurant, gym, public information/exhibition meeting room and boardroom space.

The new eight-storey office building will have two basement levels with space for a total of 98 cars and 254 bicycle spaces.

AN BORD Pleanála has upheld a Fingal County Council decision to refuse planning permission to Peter Dempsey for a helicopter storage and maintenance facility with four landing areas at Gracedieu in Ballyboughal, Co Dublin, just over 9kms from Dublin Airport.

The board said that it wasn't satisfied that the development - which involves helicopter operations - wouldn't compromise the operational capacity of Dublin Airport. Peter Dempsey had argued that the facility wouldn't impact on the airport as the helicopter flights wouldn't be regular and it wasn't a commercial facility.
