Ambassador's guests to have more space on Ailesbury Road

The Belgian ambassador Leopold Carrewyn has got planning permission from Dublin City Council to build a generous amount of guest accommodation in his back garden. He is to build four pitched roof buildings totalling 642sq m (6,910sq ft) connected by a glazed corridor to the rear of his residence at 44-46 Ailesbury Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 (two semi-detached two-storey over garden level houses which comprise 861sq m/9,268sq ft). The four single storey guest buildings will be in a courtyard around a coach-house with 137sq m (1,475sq ft).

Office and apartment scheme for Sean McDermott Street

The Greek-style portico of the former Scots Presbyterian church fronting Sean McDermott St is part of a planning application by Kimtor Ltd which says it will form part of the façade for a four-storey office block. The protected structure is believed to be mid 19th century but was abandoned early in the 20th century and later used as a store before being burned down in the 1980s leaving only a façade.

Kimtor Ltd also wants to build 179 apartments on former convent lands between Sean McDermott St and Railway St and Gloucester Lane, as well as 18 live-work units in five blocks up to nine storeys, one of which is the refurbished main convent building with 18 apartments. Around 216sq m (2,325sq ft) of office space is proposed for the Crinan project. A three to five-storey block would provide Dublin City Council with a civic centre/one-stop-shop.

Bord says yes to plan for 73 houses in Cherry Orchard

Orchard Lawn Residents Association's contention that a residential development by NABco on a 2.7-hectare portion of Cherry Orchard Park would result in the loss of a recreational facility has not had the desired effect with planners. It protested that this wouldn't happen elsewhere in the city "like Dartmouth Square". An Bord Pleanála granted planning permission for 72 three-bed houses with new access roads off Orchard Lawns and Blackditch Rd.
