The kitchen at number 35a Ferncarrig Rise is a smart take on a classic Shaker style and was supplied and fitted by Remo Kitchens (0404 69042) under the watchful eye of interior designer Ingrid Free, manager of Dundrums Town and Country Interiors (01-289 6383). It features granite effect countertops and painted pine furnishings to keep the mood country. Expect to pay between €8,000 and €10,000 for something similar.

The pine square dining table has a beeswax stain on it as do the matching ladderback chairs. Both are available through Town and Country Interiors. Expect to pay around €1,000 for the table and €250 per chair. Above is a "rise and fall" pendant light from The French Company that can be lowered to create a more ambient dining mood when you require it. Its also available through Town and Country and is priced from €350. It comes in jade green, pictured, as well as raspberry and terracotta reds, as well as neutral cream. The square island is another good example of smart spatial choices. In a compact kitchen you get additional counter space by installing a cube-shape as opposed to something rectangular. The island comes with three drawers, a wine rack and a press that you can lock. It's priced at €800.
