Early in the new year, Aisling Sherry, Keith Flannery and new baby Emma will move into their first home, a three-bedroom duplex at Adamstown, a brand new town springing up in west Co Dublin.

"We bought number 25 because it overlooks the green and a lovely old tree. We live with my mum in Lucan and wanted to stay in the area. We were delighted to hear about Adamstown - it's modern, not your regular three-bedroom house on an estate.

"We started queuing the day before. Luckily, Gunne New Homes had a ticket system, so we were able to come back the morning of the launch. We were the second couple to buy. I knew I didn't want an apartment - hauling a buggy upstairs wouldn't be practical - and we wanted three bedrooms.

"We paid €385,000 for a three-bedroom duplex townhouse with a little garden at the back. It overlooks the children's play park at the back, which is great.

"There's an Adamstown website for neighbours to get to know each other and we talk a lot on the web forum. When I go back to work after maternity leave, the new road will get me to my job at Liffey Valley in no time. Keith works in the city, so he might use the train. Where our house is located, we're not looking at a building site, since the new phases are further along, thank goodness. Adamstown - I just love it."
