Dublin 22/from €660,000:The houses at Browns Barn Wood have the latest interior styles and are wired for sound, writes Kate McMorrow

Townhouses go on sale today at Browns Barn Wood, a village-style development by Durkan residential at Browns Barn, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.

Showhouses will be open for viewing on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Sherry FitzGerald New Homes will be taking bookings for the remaining 23 townhouses here and interest should be keen, judging by the positive response when the scheme launched on the market last September.

Browns Barn is tucked off the Naas Road in a secluded setting, close to City West and the proposed Luas Red Line.

The attractive Victorian-style houses have a high standard of finish and a look that will stand the test of time.

Prices start at €660,000 for the three-storey four-bedroom houses, which have 174 - 178 sq m (1,873- 1,916sq ft) of living space.

Interiors have a finish that owes much to visits by Barry Durkan to Milan, searching for the latest design ideas.

Pre-wiring for plasma screens, internal speakers and an i-Pod station are some of the features that will impress young viewers.

Facing front, off the entrance hall in one showhouse, is a bay-windowed sittingroom with log-effect gas fire slotted into the wall.

Double doors open back to a kitchen/diningroom with island unit, polished granite worktops and vanilla gloss units.

Appliances include a Neff oven and hob, extractor fan, integrated dishwasher, microwave and an American-style fridge freezer.

The utility room holds a washing machine and tumble dryer. French doors open at the dining end to a terrace and walled back garden.

A second house design has a kitchen with unusual Zebrano wood units which are the coming trend, according to Barry Durkan.

Off the large first floor landing are a double bedroom with a full en suite bathroom and oak-lined wardrobes.

Bathrooms are exceptionally smart, with cool grey and brown tiles and fitted mirrors.

Spanning the front at this level is a second sittingroom with fireplace, plasma wiring and, in some houses, a decked balcony.

Up another level are three further bedrooms, one en suite, and a second full bathroom.

Gardens will come levelled and seeded, with a terrace and railed front beds. Mature trees have been preserved on the three-acre site, which has provision for a green area and surface car parking.
