Robert Emmet on the move in the Green

Moving statues? No, not in Ballinspittle, but right here in Dublin city

Moving statues? No, not in Ballinspittle, but right here in Dublin city. Plans are afoot by Duchas, the Heritage Service, to move the statue of Robert Emmet in from the cold of an outer pathway on the west side of St Stephen's Green to the confines of the park. A preventative measure to ensure its safety from the elements, the statue will still face the College of Surgeons and will be clearly visible to passers by. The statue was found in an antiques shop in Pensylvania and brought here by a Robert Emmet Committee in 1966.
