Families in west Dublin looking for a larger house further out in the country are expected to be the main purchasers of the first phase of a new scheme being launched this weekend by Douglas Newman Good at Ratoath, Co Meath.

There will be 18 houses on offer at The Woodlands, which will have a little over 100 houses when completed. The scheme will have six different house styles, each with four-bedroom a study/converted garage. The Woodlands is on Fairyhouse Road, half a mile from the racecourse and on the edge of Ratoath village. Dublin city centre is 15 miles away.

Prices start at £189,000 for the smallest, a 1,400 sq ft house, but buyers who do not require a converted garage will qualify for a reduction in price. Houses include a downstairs cloakroom, teak French doors to the patio, walled rear gardens, big kitchen/breakfast rooms and fitted wardrobes. At £250,000, the four bedroom dormer bungalow is the most expensive house in the first phase. This measures 1,700 sq. ft and has a large family room in addition to the sitting room and kitchen/ dining room. One bedroom is at ground floor level. Upstairs, the main bedroom is en suite and opens to a balcony overlooking the front. Two more bedrooms and the family bathroom are also upstairs.

A 1,800 sq. ft house costs £220,000. This style has an interconnecting sitting room and dining room and doors to a large kitchen/breakfast room and utility area. Upstairs, are four good-sized bedrooms, with two of these en suite, and a family bathroom.

A smaller, four-bedroom detached house of 1,530 sq. ft, costing £205,000, has a sitting room with doors to the dining room. There are also doors from the dining room to the kitchen/breakfast room. The garage to the other side of the hallway is converted to a study/family room. Upstairs, there are four bedrooms, with the main en suite and the family bathroom. A 1,525 sq. ft home priced at £200,000 has a similar layout.
