YOURSPACE:ONE MIGHT mistake this pink and proud livingroom in Silken Park (see page 2) as the show apartment for an all-female gated development.

Not so, other show apartments in the development offer a range of colour schemes designed to appeal to men (and women who are allergic to pink). The room is poles apart from the traditional beige showhouse and interior designer Michelle Hetherington from Axiom Design (01-2135140) wanted a bold look that would appeal to a young market.

The curtains and cushions are in Camengo fabric. The curtains are on a Silent Gliss polished chrome pole (costs from €400 to €1,000 depending on size), both of which can be ordered through Axiom Design.

The fabric is €30 to €50 per sq m. The Alex single seater armchairs from Duff Tisdall are very neat, so they’re good for a compact space and are extremely comfortable. They cost from around €944 each, see www.duff-tisdall.ie.

The round coffee table from Home Couture (01-6215800, www.homecouture.ie) introduces a welcome relief to pink in the room. They currently stock a number of round tables that come in a variety of woods, including wenge and oak. One simply called the “round coffee table” is €499. The white leather sofa was bought in Home Couture. For a similar look try Ikea’s Arild three-seater £733 (€812), or try www.shopdekko.ie for a dead ringer, the Horizon fabric sofa for €470, which comes in other statement colours turquoise and red.
