Upside at the Tramyard, on Castle Street in Dalkey (087-2370949) is an interior design consultancy that practices the art of upcycling. They’ve reworked a solid wood dresser that they bought at auction using Annie Sloan chalk paint to create a bedroom-perfect piece. The lilac grey dresser was €495 and is now reduced to €295 in their summer sale.

This bedside locker, refreshed using “decoupage”, a technique where they papered the piece with vintage French postcards and varnished it to seal it, is down from €95 to €60.

And a typical pine dining chair is given a make-over using stripes of off-white and marine blue paint. They call it their Gaultier chair. It was €65 and is now €45. The Annie Sloan paint costs €23 per litre.
