Northern builders see the light and get out the factor 20 on site

HARD HATS off to Northern Irish building group Polly which has just launched a safe sun initiative aimed at building site workers.

From this week all workers and sub-contactors on the Downpatrick company’s sites will be issued with sunscreen.

Whether all of the company’s foremen will be as eager to lather factor 20 on their brickies like group site foreman Tony Fitzsimons (right) remains to be seen. But then again not all builders have such beautifully toned torsos as Larne striker Anthony Lagan (also pictured).

Any similar initiative in the South would assume a sunny summer. There’s also the slight problem of empty building sites over many counties because of the fall-off in sales.
