New retail area gets tenants

Two new developments in Athlone appear to be attracting an increasing share of the local retail market. Golden Island Shopping Centre, which has traded strongly since it opened, has now been joined by Irishtown Central, a new high street located between the centre and Dunnes Stores. Harrington Bannon, which is handling lettings for Irishtown Central, has agreed deals with Clarks Shoes, Adams Childrens-wear, McDonalds Restaurants, Birthday Cards, Xtra-Vision, Pound City, Shannon Dry Cleaners and O'Hagan Technology. The traders can claim double rent allowances and a remission of rates.
