MONKSTOWN: €1.9M:PROPERTY WATCHERS in Monkstown will probably know number 5 Brighton Avenue, a Victorian end-of-terrace house that was last sold in 2005 but came back on the market last year and failed to sell.

It had been renovated meantime but viewers complained that there was no en suite or utility room and that the kitchen was too small.

The owner started over, adding all the features that had been missing and redecorating from top to bottom. It is now back on the market and set for auction through Colliers Jackson-Stops on October 16th.

The AMV is €1.9 million, less than the owner paid for the house three years ago after it was withdrawn at €2.3 million.

It's an unusual house with the front door opening into an ornate hallway with a flagstone floor and wide stone steps leading up to an inner hall.

Here there are two interconnecting reception rooms, the drawingroom to the front being a fine square room with twin sash windows and an original fireplace.

The first of the bedrooms is on the lower return with access to the small paved garden. The ground floor has a smart new cream- painted kitchen, utility room with access to a laneway, a sittingroom, bedroom and bathroom.

The top floor has three further bedrooms, one en suite leading off a landing offering a view of the sea at the end of the road.
