The rush to build more offices in south Co Dublin goes on. This week, John Lally and Bernard Duffy sought planning permission for 375,000 sq ft of offices at Glencairn on Murphystown Road. The proposed development will include four blocks ranging in height from four to eight storeys with 996 car-parking spaces on three underground levels.

Meanwhile, Gannon Homes has lodged a planning application for a huge residential development and park-and-ride facilities on a site at Sandyford Road, off the proposed Wyckham by-pass in Dublin 16. The development will include 445 apartments in 13 blocks ranging in height from three to seven storeys, shops, offices, restaurant, bar and 574 underground car-parking spaces. In Dublin 6w, Sheelin McSharry has finally secured planning permission for an apartment development in the grounds of Our Lady's School, on Templeogue Road. The scheme will have 288 one, two and three-bedroom apartments in six blocks. There will be an underground car-park. The planners have also approved the change of use of the convent to a facility for education/science and technology.

In Blanchardstown, a plan by the Cosgrave Group to proceed with a convenience store, bank building, bar/restaurant, shops and offices has been approved by An Bord Pleanala.
