On the busiest auction day so far of the autumn selling season, the top price paid yesterday was £1.2 million for a five-bedroom house in Monkstown. However, it was not a good day in the auction room for vendors. Out of a total of 30 scheduled auctions, agents reported only nine houses sold.

The £1.2 million house, a two-storey over garden level house overlooking the sea at 4 Trafalgar Terrace, Monkstown, Co Dublin, is in particularly good decorative order and has four reception rooms and five bedrooms. The agent was Lisney.

Elsewhere in south Co Dublin over the past week, a six-bedroom semi, Sunning Hill, at Upper Glenageary Road, Glenageary, was withdrawn at a Sherry FitzGerald auction at £850,000 and sold later for over £1 million. A four-bedroom detached house at 5 Mount Auburn, Killiney, was sold at a Sherry FitzGerald auction for £440,000.

A two-bedroom cottage-style house, Bramley Cottage, on Killiney Hill Road, was sold at a Hamilton Osborne King auction for £320,000.

A four-bedroom detached bungalow at 1 Proby Park, Saval Park Road, Dalkey, was sold at a Lisney auction for £495,000.

Still in Dalkey, a three-bedroom semi-detached house at 19 Mapas Road made £330,000 through Hamilton Osborne King.

In Sandycove, a five-bedroom period house with a two-bedroom apartment at 37 Sandycove Road, was withdrawn by Lisney, which is seeking £675,000.

In Glenageary, Sunninghill, a six-bedroom semi on Upper Glenageary Road, was withdrawn and is under negotiation through Sherry FitzGerald.

Rathoe, a six-bed semi at 12 Rosmeen Gardens, Dun Laoghaire, was withdrawn by Lisney, which is seeking £515,000.

Hamilton Osborne King is seeking £400,000 for 49 Clarinda Park East, Dun Laoghaire, a fivebedroom period house, following its withdrawal from auction.

A five-bedroom detached house at 1 Pavilion Gate, Glenamuck Road, Foxrock, was sold prior to auction for close to £1 million through Daphne L. Kaye & Associates.

On Westminster Road, 36 Cairn Hill, a four-bedroom detached house, was withdrawn by Daphne L. Kaye & Associates, which is quoting £575,000.

In Mount Merrion, a four-bedroom semi-detached house at 5 Trees Road was withdrawn at £550,000 by Sherry FitzGerald, which is quoting £580,000.

In Blackrock, Co Dublin, a three-bedroom dormer-style house at 1 Ardagh Park was withdrawn by Eamon Halpin, which is quoting £350,000.

Gunne Residential is seeking £480,000-plus for Ardlawn, a five-bedroom detached house at 3 Newtownpark Avenue, Blackrock, following its withdrawal from auction.

Also in Blackrock, a two-bedroom mews house at 2 Green Road, was withdrawn by Lisney, which is quoting £315,000.

Nearby at 51 Frascati Park, a four-bedroom semi-detached house, was withdrawn at £480,000 by Sherry FitzGerald, which is quoting £500,000.

In Palmerstown, Dublin 20, a four-bedroom detached house at 25 Hollyville was withdrawn at £320,000 and is under negotiation through McDonald Bros.

A six-bedroom dormer bungalow at 33 Main Street, Tallaght, Dublin 24, was sold at auction for £500,000 through Douglas Newman Good.

Also in Tallaght, Dublin 24, a three-bedroom former farmhouse on a 9,600 sq ft site at Balrothery was sold at auction for a strong price of £406,000 by Tom Maher.

In Rathcoole, a five-bedroom detached house, St Gerards, at Stoney Park, was sold after auction for about £350,000 by Sherry FitzGerald.

Dublin 2 and 4

In Sandymount, a three-bedroom mid-terrace period house at 97 Tritonville Road was withdrawn by Douglas Newman Good, which is quoting £850,000.

A four-bedroom mid-terrace house at 23 Vavasour Square, Sandymount, was withdrawn at £450,000 by P.J. O'Dwyer, which is seeking £480,000.

Off St John's Road, a two-bedroom apartment at 22 Radcliff, was withdrawn at £460,000 by Gunne Residential, which is quoting £475,000-plus.

Also in Sandymount, 35 Bath Avenue, a four-bedroom Victorian house, was withdrawn by Gunne Residential, which is seeking £460,000-plus.

Dublin 6 and 8

Lisney is seeking £335,000 for 47 Greenlea Road, Terenure, a four-bedroom semi-detached house, following its withdrawal from auction.

In Rathgar, 50 Thorncliffe Park, a four-bedroom semi-detached house, was withdrawn by Lisney, which is quoting £485,000.

Sherry FitzGerald secured £470,000 after auction for 97 Grove Park, Rathmines, a twostorey over basement period house in three apartments.

In Harold's Cross, a five-bedroom period house at 39 Kenilworth Park was withdrawn by Sherry FitzGerald, which is quoting £490,000.

Off the South Circular Road, Sherry FitzGerald is seeking £280,000 for 11 Wolseley Street, a three-bedroom mid-terrace, following its withdrawal from auction at £260,000.

Dublin 14 and 16

Lisney is quoting about £385,000 for 49 Crannagh Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin 14, a four-bedroom semi-detached house, following its withdrawal from auction.

A four-bedroom bungalow at 14 Pinewood Park, Rathfarnham, Dublin 14, was withdrawn at £280,000 and is under negotiation through Douglas Newman Good.

North Dublin

In Skerries, a dormer-style house at 38/39 Thomas Hand Street, was withdrawn by Douglas Newman Good, which is quoting over £185,000.

Wicklow

In Bray, a bungalow on 1.1 acres, Merryland, at Kilcroney, was withdrawn by Hassett, which is quoting £500,000. A separate 1.1-acre site with planning for a detached house was also withdrawn. The quoting price is now £400,000. Jackson-Stops is seeking £420,000 for 2 Church Gate, Greystones, a four-bedroom detached house, after it failed to sell at auction yesterday.

Gunne Residential is seeking £575,000-plus for Doire, a five-bedroom bungalow on 3.5 acres on Waterfall Road, Enniskerry, following its withdrawal from auction at £500,000.

Also in Enniskerry, 5 Glenview, a four-bedroom detached house was withdrawn by Hassett, which is quoting £650,000.

In Delgany, a 1.5-acre site at the Priory, was withdrawn by Ganly Walters, which is quoting £225,000 by Ganly Walters.

Also in Delgany, 18 Glenbrook Park, a four-bed bungalow, was sold prior to auction for a price reported to be in the late £400,000s by JacksonStops.

Provincial

Murtagh Bros sold The Hermitage, a six-bedroom period house on 127 acres in Newtownforbes, Co Longford, after auction for £500,000.

Also in Co Longford, MacEoin Bros auctioned two properties. A four-bedroom bungalow on 0.5 acres at Aughagreagh, Ballinalee, sold for £95,000, while a 62-acre farm also at Ballinalee, was withdrawn at £240,000 and is under negotiation.

In Co Kildare, Maple Cottage, a two-bedroom cottage on an acre at Tipper South, Naas, was sold at auction for £218,000 through Ferris O'Reilly.

J.P. & M. Doyle is seeking £210,000 for a two-bed farmhouse on 0.75 acres, Bishophill House, Bishophill, Ballymore Eustace, Co Kildare, following its withdrawal from auction.

In Co Meath, Broomfield House, a farmhouse on 130-acres at Broomfield, Slane, was withdrawn at £1 million and sold later for a higher price through T.E. Potterton.

Riverview House, a four-bedroom detached house on 17 acres at Rathaldron, Navan, was Withdrawn by Raymond Potterton at £460,000 after it failed to sell at auction.

Still in Co Meath, a six-bedroom house on 4.5 acres, Boreen Lodge, The Stocks, Athboy, was sold at auction for £565,000 through Raymond Potterton.

In Co Wexford, a semi-detached period house, St Catherine's, at The Avenue, Gorey, was withdrawn at £260,000 and sold later through Sherry FitzGerald/ O'Leary Kinsella.

Commercial

A 5,045 sq ft office/residential development at 17a New Bride Street New, Long Lane, Dublin 8, was sold at auction for £980,000 through Hamilton Osborne King.

In Ranelagh, O'Brien's public house at 75-77 Ranelagh was withdrawn at £1.5 million and is under negotiation through Gunne Commercial.

The Beehive licensed premises at Coolbeg Cross, Wicklow, was withdrawn at £1.25 million and is under negotiation through John Younge.

A 2.5-acre development site in Kilmessan, Co Meath, was withdrawn at £350,000 and is under negotiation through Smith Auctioneers.

Jim C. Fahy Auctioneers sold Hennessy's pub in Ferbane, Co Offaly, at auction for £280,000.

In Co Tipperary, The White House public house in Roscrea was withdrawn at £900,000 and is under negotiation through John Younge.
