Large detached colonial-style houses have come on the market in the million-dollar resort of Reunion in Orlando, Florida.

For sale through UK company Ultra Villas, these luxurious semi-mansions are a long way from the typical Florida bungalow and prices reflect this. A 423sq m (4,552sq ft) five-bed five-bath house in Casa De Oro costs US$1.3 million (€1. 013 million).

Named Homestead, the new golf development will form a new neighbourhood within the five-star Reunion Resort. Developer Ginn is currently transforming 931 hectares (2,300 acres) of orange groves and pasture, creating 50 separate communities and 7,000 new homes, three golf courses, a six-acre water park with its own beach and pro-am standard tennis stadium.

Houses at Casa De Oro are designed with a Mediterranean theme, based on Florida at the turn of the 20th century. Three of the five bedrooms will open onto a veranda overlooking the pool and Jacuzzi, with the golf course as a backdrop.

An internal courtyard will be furnished with a tall bronze fountain depicting classical figures. The fountain and the 28 ft high music room can be viewed from the first floor landing.

In addition to the golf course, Homestead will have around-the-clock room service, a spa and fitness centre and village centre, where boutiques, bars and restaurants line Reunion Square.

Horse-riding trails are also planned and a riding school will include stabling for 20 horses.
