Keen price for two-bed in Wexford

“IF YOU have money, there’s never been a better time to buy

“IF YOU have money, there’s never been a better time to buy.” So says Wexford auctioneer Dolores Power who has just sold a two-bed apartment within walking distance of the town for the “knockdown price of €65,000”. The Wexford People described the sale of the “well-appointed” property in the Mulgannon area – close to the golf club – as “the biggest bargain of the year”.

The apartment, in the Cromwellsfort House complex, is on the ground floor, has its own entrance, a livingroom, kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. According to the Wexford People, mortgage repayments on the apartment could be as low as €210 a month, but the property could get €550 a month in rent.

The price is certain to cause ripples – and a reassessment of asking prices in the south-east. Prices for similar apartments in Wexford town yesterday looked decidedly unrealistic in the light of this sale. On myhome.ie, RE/Max SouthEast was offering a two-bed apartment in Cromwellsfort for €149,500.

Property Partners/John Corish was seeking €235,000 for a “spacious second floor self-contained apartment” in a block of six at Redmond Square. John Keane Co Auctioneers Ltd was seeking €325,000 for “a spacious” two-bed apartment with private balcony overlooking the harbour at Key West.
