Gilt-edged invite to consider selling up

It seems we’ve moved on from handwritten notes pushed indiscriminately under doors to intruiging black envelopes

Imagine the Block’s delight last week when a long black envelope fluttered through the letterbox.

It was held together by the kind of fancy string and cog opener that could only herald an invitation to a gala summer wedding, a garden party or a masked ball!

Sadly, the heavily weighted invitation was not to any such grand society gathering, but merely an invitation to consider selling my home to a “cash buyer” who, Knight Frank confided, has indicated they are looking to “hang their hat” at a house just like mine.

It seems we’ve moved on from handwritten notes pushed indiscriminately under doors from estate agents soliciting new properties in desirable areas.

The Block is most flattered that its home has been plucked from the serried ranks by Knight Frank for consideration to list on its books and entrust to its crack team of residential agents, Rena O’Kelly, Peter Kenny and Eileen Louise O’Sullivan.

No doubt the agent’s commission would be worth every last gilt edged percentage.

How to pen the response, however, remains a quandary.
