The top lot is Japanese Switzerland – a painting of his wife and step-daughter in the Swiss Alps – by Sir John Lavery which has been on loan to the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin for the last 20 years but is now being sold by its private owner and is estimated at £300,000- £500,000.

Also on display are The Talkers by Jack B Yeats and Hastings Railway Station by Walter Frederick Osborne – both also previously loaned to the Hugh Lane; and, View from Howth by Sir William Orpen, previously on loan to the Hunt Museum in Limerick. The paintings will go on view in London next week at Sotheby's in New Bond Street where the auction will take place on October 21st.
