The English Collector auction. Lot 50, an Irish George II mahogany side table, 1750-1760, formerly in Bloomfield House, Co Mayo until 1924 when the house was sold by the Ruttledge family, £106,250 (£50,000-£80,000).

Saturday (November 19th) Woodward Auctioneers, Cook St, Cork. A silver tray inscribed "Presented to Major General J E Dalton, by his brother officers IRA engaged with him on active service in Cork on the occasion of his marriage Cork 1922", €3,400 (€6,000-€8,000).

Tuesday (November 22nd) de Veres Irish Art Auction, Royal Hibernian Academy, Ely Place, Dublin 2. 82 per cent of lots sold. Lot 34, 1.6.92, pastel-on-paper by Sean Scully, €165,000 (€150,000-€250,000); Lot 91, Caballero by Jack B Yeats, €135,000 (€80,000-€120,000); Lot 31, Waiting by Leo Whelan, €60,000 (€60,000-€90,000); Lot 30, A Wet Day, Cork by John Doherty, €20,000 (€15,000-€20,000); Lot 35, Gull Goes West by John Shinnors, €20,000 (€20,000-€30,000); Lot 25, Men With Dogs by Martin Gale, €9,000 (€8,000-€12,000). Tuesday (November 22nd) Sotheby's, London. The Scottish Art auction. The Golf Links, North Berwick by Sir John Lavery sold to a private collector for £872,750 – more than double the median estimate (£300,000-£500,000).

Wednesday (November 23rd) Bonhams, London. Modern British & Irish Art auction. Lot 49, Killary Bay by Paul Henry, £68,750 (£30,000-£50,000); Lot 46, A Soldier of Fortune by Jack B Yeats, £56,250 (£50,000-£80,000); Lot 45, Fresh and Salt by Jack B Yeats, £31,250 (£30,000-£50,000). Among the unsold lots were: Lot 47, Water Front by Jack B Yeats (£150,000-£200,000); and Lot 44, Nude Bathing by Roderic O'Conor (£50,000-£80,000).

Wednesday (November 23rd) Christie's, London. Modern British & Irish Art evening auction. A Windy Day by Sir John Lavery, £941,000 (£500,000-£800,000). (See photograph)

An 18ct white gold Tiffany & Co quartz cocktail watch, set with 168 round brilliant-cut diamonds, with an insurance valuation from Brown Thomas, where it was purchased in December 2009, stating the value as €17,000, is estimated at €5,000-€6,000.

Tuesday (November 29th) Bonhams, New York. The Estate of Maureen O'Hara. Auction of clothes, antiques, jewellery, correspondence and film memorabilia belonging to the late Hollywood star including many lots relating to the film The Quiet Man (1952), directed by John Ford, which was filmed on location in Ireland.
