Dublin Civic Trust sells HQ in Castle Street

Dublin Civic Trust is on the move after selling its headquarters in Castle Street to a US venture capital fund for just short of €900,000. However the trust is not saying where it is going because the acquisition of a new premises has yet to be finalised.

Having saved number 4 Castle Street after a late medieval timber beam was discovered there, the trust will be moving to “an exciting new historic city centre home” that needs to be restored. In doing so it is returning to its core business – leading by example by purchasing and restoring “urban street buildings of distinctive heritage value” .

While housed in Castle Street the trust has largely been engaged in policy work, completing an inventory of the city under the Historic Heart of Dublin programme as well as carrying out and publishing major studies of Capel Street, Thomas Street, Aungier Street and others.
