Mr Maurice Greene, development director of Green Property, died at his home in Dunboyne, Co Meath, last Friday at the age of 47. One of the most popular figures in the property industry, he won wide acclaim for directing the company's development of the massive Blanchardstown Town Centre.
A native of Clara, Co Offaly, he was educated at Sandford Park, in Ranelagh, and later studied accountancy and commerce at the College of Commerce in Rathmines. He later moved into the property sector, joining James Adams Auctioneers on St Stephen's Green in the early 1970s.
He joined MEPC Ireland in 1974 and on Green Property's acquisition of the MEPC property portfolio in 1994, he joined Green Property as development director. He played a leading role in the development of Green in recent years. He was a also director of the Trustee Savings Bank.
Mr Greene was a keen sportsman and was a former secretary and treasurer of the Ward Union Stag Hunt.
He is survived by his wife, Katie, sons Charles, Harry and Mark, and parents, Ruth and John Greene.
