The Irish Home Builders Association is unfortunate to be losing its director Michael Goggins just as it is to launch an all-out campaign against the Government's edict on allocating 20 per cent of housing sites for social housing. Goggins has steered the IHBA for the last four years, at a time when builders were constantly being accused of prospering at the expense of first-time buyers. This time around, the builders are intent on challenging the Goverment's policy on social housing, and have set up an expert committee of lawyers, accountants and town planners to plot their strategy. Meanwhile, Mr Goggins is to set up his own development company and will also be providing advice to some of the major players in the industry.
