Planning&DevelopmentA long-awaited planning application has been submitted for the former Bailey Gibson Site beside the former John Player cigarette factory on the South Circular Road, Dublin 8 .

Players Square Ltd, made up of UK firm Bee Bee Developments and Irish Construction firm PJ Walls, is looking to demolish most of the industrial, warehouse and office buildings on the site and build a mixed-use commercial, residential and retail development as well as new public streets and a square.

The development would comprise five blocks with 270 apartments and townhouses, nine own-door office units, five commercial and retail units, a medical centre and a leisure centre with a swimming pool.

A planning application for the adjoining former John Player factory site is being considered by Dublin City Council. The proposal for the massive mixed use scheme on seven acres is for 484 residential units, almost 10,000sq m (107,639sq ft) of retail space, education and community facilities and office space.
