Dublin 5 from €380,000: Buyers in the market for a two-bedroom apartment could be tempted to avoid M50 gridlock and opt for Timber Mill, a major new development off Kilmore Road in Artane, Dublin 5.

Hooke & MacDonald is releasing 20 apartments, priced from €380,000 for 60-76sq m (650-815sq ft) two-bed units. Show apartments open for viewing at noon today.

This new homes scheme is on the site of a former timber mill, opposite Artane Castle shopping centre and about three miles from the city centre. Everything, from shopping to schools and nightlife, are within easy reach. Nearby St Anne's Park is a most attractive amenity, with its rose gardens, playing fields and weekend market.

Designed by architects Murray O'Laoire and developed by Werdna Ltd, Timber Mill consists of two and three-storey blocks, with one four-storey building fronting onto Kilmore Road. There will be a total of 193 two-bedroom apartments, a crèche, underground car-park and small retail units on the site when completed.

The contemporary architectural theme will appeal to young buyers, with off-white blocks enlivened by brightly hued entrances in red, electric blue and orange. Zinc cladding, steel and opaque glass adds interest and terraces and balconies are redwood cedar. Window frames are grey.

Most apartments will have large balconies either south-facing or looking onto a landscaped courtyard, with communal access to a planted roof terrace. All units are ready to move into right away. Specification includes good quality kitchens, bathroom ware and fitted wardrobes in all bedrooms. Heating is electric. Landscaping includes boundary trees and shrubberies, street and bollard lighting and cobbled parking spaces.

Viewing at Timber Mill extends from noon today until Sunday afternoon.
