A period home, Ballymoran House, built in 1840 by the Odlum family on 165 acres at Edenderry, Co Offaly, is to be sold at auction on September 7th. The agent, Liam Grogan of Rhode, Co Offaly, is guiding £750,000 for the property. The house, which has been refurbished extensively in the seven years since its current owners bought it, according to the agent, has period details such as marble fireplaces in four of the five bedrooms, as well as in the drawing-room. However, the original windows have been replaced with double glazed PVC windows. The house has three reception rooms, a conservatory and a fitted kitchen with a Rayburn cooker, as well as a wine cellar downstairs, and upstairs, a laundry room, bathroom, and the five bedrooms.

There are several outbuildings including an 18th century courtyard.

In Glandore, in west Cork, a convent on 25 acres owned by the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, is for sale through Twomey Crowley in Bandon, which is quoting a price of between £1 million and £2 million. Overlooking the sea, the property has development potential, subject to planning permission, possibly for a hotel or holiday homes. The convent, originally a private house built in the early 19th century, needs major refurbishment, according to the agent.

In Gorey, Co Wexford, Michael Kinsella of Kinsella Estates has an eight-bedroom Georgian house on eight acres, with 30 acres of development land, for sale with a price tag of £2.5 million. The house, St Walerans, is close to the centre of Gorey. The house and eight acres could sell for over £1 million by itself, according to the agent, with part of the land being used for housing, subject to planning permission. The main house, which has a high standard of decor and good period details, according to the agent, could be used as a country house hotel.
