The first-time buyer market in north Dublin is set to get a €45 million boost as Dublin builders MKN Properties unveil plans to build over 370 new homes in Swords.

Seán McKeon's development company is seeking to build 148 townhouses, 203 apartments in 16 blocks and 22 own-door apartments on a site north of Ridgewood Estate on Rathingle Road. The company has provided over 600 residential units in the area to date and this is the final phase of its development in the area. The 6.25-hectare site is located between Ridgewood estate, which was also developed by MKN, and River Valley estate, which was built in the 1970s. Architects Fenton-Simons have designed the scheme, which will be accessed through Ridgewood Estate from Forrest Road.

The scheme will overlook a six-acre amenity site being developed by MKN which, when complete, will comprise playing pitches and a parkland area.

Current MKN schemes include an apartment and housing scheme in Clontarf and the renovation of Sutton Castle Hotel into apartments, which is due to be completed this summer.
