THE ART OF PAINTING in watercolour received a major boost earlier this year when The Meeting on the Turret Stairs by Sir Frederic William Burton was voted ‘Ireland’s favourite painting’ in an RTÉ-organised poll.

The finest contemporary watercolours go on public view when the Water Colour Society’s 158th annual exhibition opens to the public on Monday, September 24th at the Concourse Arts Gallery, Dún Laoghaire County Hall in south Dublin.

The exhibition, which features work by 110 artists, runs until Saturday, October 6th.

Entry is free and the paintings are for sale, with most works priced at about €350-€850.
