Sucking Diesel

Based in Breganze, in northern Italy, Diesel is best-known for its high-fashion denim but has expanded its influence to include home collections. In 2009, the brand partnered with Foscarini to create a range of light fixtures. The collection is available at Minima (01-6337716, minima.ie) on the Waterfront, Hanover Quay, Dublin 2. The Fork floor lamp (below) has stitching on the fabric like that on jeans. The light inside reveals a patchwork structure and the texture of the canvas makes the lamp, when illuminated, look a little like a light inside a tent. The lampshade is flexible and can be oriented 360 degrees. Available with a grey shade, it costs €695. This year Scavolini designed a kitchen collection in collaboration with Successful Living from Diesel. The project is characterised by the vintage spirit in materials, treatments and finishes that is Diesel's DNA.
