More than 800 women took to the streets of Ballina, Co Mayo, last week and broke the world record for the dubious distinction of running in high heels. (The previous record was held by a lesser crowd in Brisbane, Australia).
St Mary's School in Ballina won a national award for raising the most money for Crumlin Children's Hospital last year, and they were behind this year's effort. Pictured here at the start of the race is the town mayor, Michelle Mulherin.
