Temple Bar restaurants stage a Taste Trail

Next weekend you can sample the best that 10 restaurants in the area have to offer, in bargain priced small plate portions

Move over stag and hen parties ... this weekend Temple Bar is being reclaimed by foodies, who will be taking part in the historic Dublin enclave’s first Taste Trail. Pick up a booklet of 10 tokens (€22) and you can exchange them for a small plate or tapa-sized portion at any of the 10 restaurants and pubs taking part. It’s going to be a very cosmopolitan affair as speciality dishes on offer from the restaurants taking part will include Indonesian pork buns, sirloin steak, fish cakes, boxty, risotto, paella and Nepalese dumplings.

The inaugural Temple Bar Taste Trail will run from noon to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. The businesses participating are Chameleon, Gallagher’s Boxty House, FX Buckley, Monty’s of Kathmandu, La Caverna, Elephant & Castle, The Morgan, The Oliver St John Gogarty, Port House Pintxo and The Shack Restaurant. Books of tickets can be purchased at any of these outlets.

Sunday is the last day of the Temple Bar TradFest, and at 4pm you can join in the judging of a coddle cook-off on Curved Street in between spending your tokens.
