Seven things to do this week

Seven things to do this week

TODAY "Shackles Off Your Feet" is a conference for young adults on gospel music, justice and freedom at St Patrick's College in Drumcondra. There are talks on the roots of gospel music and on our consumerist culture, with helper of the homeless Peter McVerry SJ talking about the link between our own happiness and the happiness of others. Tickets are €25, which includes a light lunch. www.schacklesoffyourfeet.org

TOMORROW Sunday Roast, the popular end-of-the-week shindig, is back, and while Bar Bia, on Lower Stephen Street in Dublin, may be a new venue, those vital ingredients remain the same: live music, board games and, of course, free roast potatoes. Tonight see Gary Dunne, Miriam Ingram and Band, and Kal Lavell. The club kicks off at the earlier time of 7.30 p.m. and goes on until 11.30 p.m. Admission, as always, is free.

MONDAY Lots for the younger ones this week, but Deathtrap sounds as if it's something the parents might enjoy too. The death trap in question is a new thriller written by an unknown dramatist who sends his play to an established New England playwright for comment, with murderous consequences for his wife. This Red Kettle production, starring Keir Dullea of 2001: A Space Odyssey, is aimed at children aged seven to 12. Belltable Arts Centre, Limerick. Doors 8 p.m. 061-319866.

FRIDAY More youth-oriented theatre is coming your way. Barnstorm Theatre Company's Stuck In the Mud continues with a gala performance at the Watergate Theatre, Kilkenny, and runs until March 4th before touring the country. All proceeds go to charity, and as most of Barnstorm's shows are for schools it's a rare opportunity to enjoy its work as a family. Doors 7.30 p.m. 056-7761674.
