talk of the devil: Having seen a preview of The Devil Wears Prada, we can report that although the movie isn't that faithful to the book, it is a hugely entertaining romp.

Meryl Streep puts in a stellar performance as the formidable, icy New York fashion editor Miranda Priestly, editor of Runway magazine, as does Stanley Tucci as her world-weary art editor, Nigel. There are also terrific performances by Anne Hathaway as the guileless assistant turned glamazon, and Emily Blunt as the imperious, snooty London secretary. Patricia Field of Sex & The City was head stylist on the movie, in which more than $1 million worth of designer products were showcased. The film opens in Dublin on October 7th.

find the muse

A chic, quayside boutique called Muse, which has "an eclectic shabby-chic" style has just been opened in Waterford by two friends who love clothes. Its interior is their own quirky creation, and has turquoise velvet changing room curtains, handpainted wallpaper, gilt-edged furniture and a feature glass wall (well, what is Waterford associated with after all?). Laura Ellis and Clodagh Roche have assembled a mix of labels including Frankie B jeans, shirt dresses from Kiilerich of Denmark, Malene Birger's beatnik, striped angora knits, and black, sequined ballet pumps from Repetto, the French dance shoe company, and bags from Angel Jackson. From Australia they've sourced  basics from Body and Metallics, which are  counterbalanced by the detailed  embroideries, tweeds and chiffons  of Hoss. Prices start at around €40 for  bags, and go up to €250 for coats.  Muse is at 92 The Quay, Waterford,  051-854448.
