Patrick Javillier Bourgogne Chardonnay 'Cuvée des Forgets', 2005, 13% €23.00.
A broad, lightly toasty nose, showing some new oak, with a restrained palate that opens out to reveal a rich, almost fat palate that really fills the mouth with flavour, while retaining a lovely crisp elegance. It was even better the following night, with a plainly roasted chicken. Patrick Javillier is one of the top growers in Meursault, and most of the grapes used to make this wine come from the appellation. Think of it as a mini-Meursault, and a very fine one, too.

Bourgogne Chardonnay Henri Boillot 2006, 13.5%, €28.
Henri Boillot, son of Jean, is one of the rising stars of Burgundy. This wine is made partly from Meursault grapes, partly from Saint Romain, a small village just over the hill. Still quite closed, with plenty of body and some new oak, with a lovely cutting mouth-watering lime acidity.

Domaine Darviot-Perrin Les Magnys 2005, 12.5%, €25.
Darviot-Perrin has vines in both Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault, but this wine is primarily from in and around Meursault. A classic nose of lightly grilled nuts, with some white flowers. This leads on to a lovely medium-bodied palate of refreshing apple fruits, and a long dry finish. A lovely wine that will continue to improve.

Vincent Dancer Bourgogne 2006,12.5%, €21.
As with the wines above, this is made from vines grown in Meursault, which didn't quite make the grade. Vincent Dancer is one othe most talented young vignerons in Burgundy. Check out his fascinating website at www.vincentdancer.com
An intense, tropical wine, richly textured and underpinned by a lively citrus note that keeps it refreshing. I would try this with grilled turbot or black sole for a real treat.
