Bottles of the Week

Domaine Bégude Pinot Rosé, Vin de Pays de l'Aude 2004

Domaine Bégude Pinot Rosé, Vin de Pays de l'Aude 2004. Rosé is tipped as the biggest fashion trend in wine this year - so stock up with this delicate southern French pink at an exceptionally juicy price. It comes from an estate high up in the Languedoc near Limoux, and is farmed biodynamically by Englishman James Kinglake - so it also has purity in its favour. Every fridge should have a bottle. From Molloys outlets, €6.99.

Bon Cap Private Cellar Pinotage, Eilandia 2003. Even though I'm not a major fan of Pinotage, this stylish organic version made by traditional methods has so much smoky, peppery appeal that you will want to light the barbecue the minute the cork is drawn. An excellent sale buy. From Superquinn, usually €11.99, down to €9.99 in New World Wine sale which started this week.
