An 'L' of a sofa

A clean-line, L-shaped sofa is not an easy thing to find, at a moderate price

A clean-line, L-shaped sofa is not an easy thing to find, at a moderate price. One of the best places to look is Interior Image, a little-known shop in a retail park near the Longmile Road in Dublin owned by interior designer sisters, Sian and Ruth Clendenon.

Their Italian sofas are good quality, and dateless, in a contemporary sort of way. They have a selection of L-shaped sofas on sale at the moment. The Metropolitan corner unit (pictured) has been reduced from €2,379 to €1,785 and is available in six different colours. It is deep and comfortable, and comes in linen-mix fabric, chrome finishing and feather fillings. For a large sofa, you'll need to pay about €2,000 for anything of decent quality, so this represents good value. A large brown leather corner sofa is reduced, too, from €4,465 to €3,349. There are ottomans and armchairs to match.

They also have a new sofa collection from Bert Plantagie, a Dutch company, and this includes a selection of L-shape units by Stefan Steenkist. These can be ordered in any size and cost about €3,000. Almost all the furniture is in stock and can be delivered a couple of days after purchase, so there are no long delivery times. Customers can also avail of a bespoke service and specify their own sofa. Colours, fabrics and dimensions can all be chosen. Prices start at €2,400. There is also good value to be had in dining tables and occasional furniture. The shop is closed for holidays until Monday week, August 11th, but is normally open Monday to Friday, and Saturday by appointment only.
