Beauty Report: That’s enough lip from you

Tinted oils, nourishing balms, sticks of glossy colour and stylos of nude shimmer spell a summer of luscious lips

Though I adore cosmetics with a deep passion (as a student I used to save for months to buy high-end makeup and skincare), I have no shame in my own laziness. With a few exceptions, if a product takes a lot of work, I’m not interested in it.

This couldn’t be more true of lip products. They should last and wear well, be easy to apply, and most importantly of all, feel comfortable to wear. Summer colour is hitting makeup counters at the moment, and a good lip will finish any look with minimal effort.

YSL Gloss Volupté in No. 54 (€25): In a season of bold, opaque colour, this sparkling pink gloss is laid-back but still striking. Not to mention the regal tube that makes it a marvel to whip out of your handbag.

Tom Ford Patent Finish Lip Colour in Stolen Cherry (€48): When you mean business, you need a power lip. This range has it all: there are no nudes here, just big, bold colours with a high gloss finish and maximum payoff. They'll fade gracefully into a sophisticated stain with hours of wear so you won't need to worry about them.

Lancome Absolue Precious Cells Nourishing Lip Balm (€50): Always start with a good balm. I've been nursing this tube for about four months and haven't reached the halfway point on it yet. It provides instant comfort and every lip product sits well on top of it.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in Raspberry (€21): For lazier days, a tinted lip oil is wonderful. This provides a whisper of pink with a deliciously juicy appearance and non-sticky moisturising action.

Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo in Script (€32.50): For a pared-back summer look that's barely there, this sheeny, buttery nude shade is perfect. Pop it on at your leisure and enjoy the chic, fun stylo applicator.
