After the Iftas, next stop on the awards itinerary is the Edell theatre in Los Angeles next Thursday night for the annual Oscars Wilde ceremony organised by the US-Ireland Alliance.
Always a lively night, this year’s event will honour Brendan Gleeson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Hylda Queally, who’s from Barefield, Co Clare and so firmly established as one of Hollywood’s top agents that one of her clients, Kate Winslet, will present her with her award.
Winslet is now favourite to take the Best Actress Oscar on Sunday week. By coincidence, the glitzy guest list at the Edell includes the two previous winners of that award, Marion Cotillard and Helen Mirren.
