HAMILTON Osborne King's sale of the contents of 24 Fitzwilliam Square made a total of £425,000 last Monday. The highest price of the day was the £17,000 paid for an oval, mahogany dining table.

A set of 10 mahogany dining chairs achieved £9,000, and lot 339, a pair of early 19th century mahogany, satinwood and brass inlaid fold over top card tables, sold for £7,500.

A suite of diamond jewellery, including a star brooch and a pair of earrings, fetched £16,200 in total. Furniture from Michael Ramsden's private apartment at the top of the house sold well, particularly to private buyers, as did the eclectic collection of furniture and decorative pieces in the basement. However, several lots of Irish furniture, which were added to the sale as a collection, did not sell on the day. These included pieces by early 19th century Dublin cabinet makers, Mack, Williams & Gibton.
