Earlier this month, RTE started the fifth season of The X-Files (Network 2, Tuesdays at 9 p.m.) - one year behind the US. Recently, Scully and Mulder discovered they were unwitting pawns in a scary conspiracy. Mulder identified his dead body - yes, true - and Scully collapsed while presenting evidence to an FBI inquiry.

Last night's Network 2 episode saw Scully unconscious on a ventilator, Mulder propositioned to join Cancer Man and people getting shot all over the place.

Series six, about to start Stateside, takes up where the film leaves off. Scully and Mulder are no longer on the trail of the X files, which are now in the questionable hands of Special Agent Jeffrey Spender.

Not much more has been revealed, though fan predictions include developments based on aspects of the film, particularly the kiss that never was and Scully's new found faith in ETs.
