If present-buying has not left your pockets completely emptied, then there are some tempting lots on offer at Mullen's of Laurel Park next Monday. The 7 p.m. auction features pieces of French furniture, such as an ormolu-mounted tulipwood and marquetry commode in the Louis XV style (£2,000-£3,000), a set of six Louis XVI-style gilt metal three-light wall appliques (£1,200-£1,600), a red tortoiseshell boulle and ebony serpentine card-table from circa 1870 (£2,000-£3,000) and a Napoleon III ormolumounted, ebonised, tortoiseshell and cutbrass inlaid boulle bonheur du jour (£2,500-£3,500). Other European countries are also represented by a pair of Italian walnut console tables with marble tops, circa 1860 (£3,000-£4,000), and a 19th century continental brass and ebonised cushion mirror (£500-£800). Furniture for every room in the house is available in the sale, from an Edwardian mahogany three-piece bedroom suite (£3,000-£4,000) to a Georgian-revival mahogany three-pillar dining table (£3,000-£5,000). Then there is a mahogany breakfront library bookcase, after a design by Thomas Chippendale (£3,000-£5,000), and a mahogany Chippendale-revival partner's desk (£3,500-£4,500). Other lots worthy of mention include a five-piece 19th century gilt drawingroom suite (£3,500-£4,500), a Victorian walnut side cabinet (£2,200-£2,800) and a William IV four-poster bed (£2,000-£3,000). Finally, there is a Victorian walnut credenza, with a breakfront moulded top above an inlaid frieze (£4,800-£5,800), and an oak refectory table, circa Charles II and later (£1,500-£2,500).
